Battle of Zela 47 BC


"Veni, Vidi, Vici", maybe with "Alea iacta est", it is one of the most famous phrases attributed to Gaio Giulio Cesare. The phrase "I came, I saw, I conquered" was used by Cesare to announce to Rome his triumph after his expedition in the Pontus land and his victory on the battlefield of Zela on the Pontus Army led by the King Pharnaces II.



Battle of Ceresole d'Alba 1544


The Imperial-Spanish forces moved, under the command of Alfonso d'Avalos, from Lombardy towards Turin with an army of 18,000 infantry and 1,000 cavalries. The French cavalry, shadowing d'Avalos's movements, discovered that the Imperial forces were headed directly for the French position.


At the end of the battle of Ceresole d'Alba, Blaise de Monluc was appointed cavalier, the last we know. An age was definitely bygone.



Battle of Teugen-Hausen 1809


Early on the 10th of April, the Austrian Army advanced into Bavaria with an army almost 150,000. The intent of the Hapsburg monarchy was to destroy the French and Allied armies while the major French armies were tied down in actions in Spain.


The morning of April 19th, the Austrian III Korps faces off against the Marshal Davout with his elite corps of Infantry.
